My family and i had a craving for authentic Jamaican food, we had searched the area and found a place called Sunshine Eats Jamaican Restaurant, thought ok let’s give them a try. WOW! were we ever happy with our decision! Donna answered the call with warm greetings and patience and took our order of a medium and large Oxtail Meal. When i had asked about the Curry Chicken she said was all sold out for the day (it was late, to be expected). She suggested Rasta Pasta with Jerk Chicken and we ordered medium Curry Goat Meal. When arriving the atmosphere was warm, inviting, family friendly and most of all CLEAN. Cindy greeted us with great customer service. Then Donna came omg most Beautiful, Warm and Inviting just as she was on the phone. We got to talking with Donna asked when cashing out on the debit machine I noticed no option to tip was so disappointed that I had no cash to leave a tip . I promised once we got home would post our experience. Definitely going to be our new go to place from Peel to St. Catherine’s . The FOOD was AUTHENTIC, FRESH and AMAZING and below are what are meals looked like . Even my 23 month granddaughter enjoyed the food . You don’t have to be Jamaican to enjoy the food just need to be a FOODIE 🥰🥰🥰 FYI bring 💵💵💵💵 for TIPPING 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
View on GoogleWe stumbled upon a Jamaican restaurant downtown today, and decided to give it a try for dinner. Ordered three jerk chicken platters (small, medium, and large) for takeout, and I’m so glad we did. The food was ready quickly, the chicken was seasoned to perfection with just the right amount of heat, and it literally fell off the bone. Portion sizes were great, and the price can’t be beat. This is exactly what eating out should be—delicious, satisfying, and a great value. Definitely adding this spot to my list of go-to eats in St. Catharines!
View on GoogleCame upon this place during my walk during lunch.... so glad I stopped in! I grabbed a jamaican patty and it is one of the best I've ever had. So flaky, fresh and full of flavour! Can't wait to go back to try their other dishes Overall, a great first visit with good vibes
View on GooglePretty good for the price! I ordered the lunch special chicken curry for pickup. Very fast service. The serving size was great for the price. Around $14 for a solid serving and an iced tea. The chicken was VERY tender, although I thought it could have used some more seasoning and spice, was one of the milder Jamaican dishes I’ve tried. As well as some extra curry sauce to go on top the rice to add some moisture. Rice was good, and the coleslaw was standard. Definitely will be back to try the Pattie’s and Oxtail. Overall a pretty good experience
View on GoogleTo start my favorite all-time mean is oxtail with rice and peas. So when I get told a dish has rice and peas, that's what I'm going to expect, not rice with gungo beans. There are specific names to these dishes for a reason. Now, the oxtail had no seasoning and didn't taste like oxtail at all. The closest thing it tasted like was stew beef, STILL without seasoning as a normal Jamaican would have it. There was still a black pepper ball in my dish, which usually gets removed from my knowledge and years of having Jamaican dishes, especially from a store. The coleslaw was just a bunch of cabbage slapped on the dish, where again there are specific differences to how this dish is made. Some stores may have some changes, but this store changed everything, and none of those changes were good. I'm used to Jamaican meals how they taste a specific way even going out to eat, I have no idea what the thought process was here but it's bland, rice isn't rice n peas after saying it is, coleslaw is a slop of cabbage and everything could have been done a thousand times better. I wouldn't recommend anything, nor would I recommend spending your money here.
