Needed to order material for a roofing job. Called first thing on a Friday morning to put in an order, however material was not going to be able to be delivered until the following Monday morning. Which is understandable, I suppose, but they wanted to charge a $40 delivery fee for delivery IN TOWN!! No thanks! So we said we would pick it up instead when we were done running our errands. I checked online (Google) for their store hours so we knew exactly how much time we had before we had to be there to pick up our order. It was posted as open until 5 pm. Perfect! That gave us plenty of time. We showed up at 4 pm on that same Friday and the store was CLOSED! Very dissatisfied overall! So we went somewhere else instead & were in & out with everything we needed in under 20 minutes.
View on GoogleNumber one reason...free delivery! I've used this many times for drywall or long things that won't even fit in my trucks, or I'm just too busy to get there and get stuff...it's been a huge advantage and help. When I go in there, it's hit and miss if the staff at the desk is in a good mood or not. But I've never been disrespected or anything, it just doesn't make for a good experience when the person helping you isn't in a good mood or doesn't seem like they're having a good day. Most of the time, they're great. Helpful, joking around, and if you catch them on a really good day, maybe you'll even get a discount when you're in there enough. Ordered a load of shingles last year for delivery, the day of delivery they called and didn't have enough...so they bumped me up to the next grade of shingles at no-cost and still kept their delivery date promise. I was VERY impressed with that gesture so much so that I was telling everyone that would listen haha I would have rated a 4 star, but that single act put it over the top to 5 stars! Keep up the good work guys. Overall, happy customer, and will return!
View on GoogleGood prices for customers to buy materials. But not so safe work environment for its drywall delivery drivers. 3 drywall lifting injuries in 3 days by 3 different workers .one worker having to lift in excess of 250 sheets per day of 4 x 8', 4 x 10' , 4 x 12' sheets of drywall forced to hand balm them into hicks co-owner owned construction sites buildings tredging through mud ,walking on uneven planks etc.unsafe. delivery trucks should have crane to just unload pile onto ground at site. hicks co-Owner should then have 2 general labourers on site to hand balm them in.
View on GoogleWhat a place! This place was amazing! They had the best prices for drywall AND they delivered it free of charge! When the area was dumped with snow, the Hicks Lumber delivery man (wish I got his name) helped me shovel the driveway to get the drywall in the house. He also helped me out by figuring out how to get the drywall in the tight room I was redoing. I am very glad that there are still good old fashion lumber shops like this who still have a heart hanging around. Unlike other big box stores that are robotic and charge for breathing their air. I recommend this place. A lot.
