Since 2008, Abma Counselling has supported people across Niagara who feel weighed down by stress, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or relationship struggles. Our team of newer therapists (at lower rates) and senior therapists (with years of experience) offers options that fit different needs and budgets. Whether you are seeking help for yourself, your child, or your relationship, you’ll find counsellors who listen, understand, and work with you to make life feel less overwhelming and more meaningful.

I am eternally grateful for the staff at Abma for all their assistance over the years with my children. They have made a world of a difference for our family and also ensure we feel like a top priority.

The staff at Abma are amazing. We have been to other therapy practices over the years and from the receptionist to the therapists- the service and care is by far the best in the region. I don`t know how they ensure everyone is so knowledgeable in there fields but we are grateful for the care and dedication from the Abma team.

From the very first session, I felt completely at ease. Steve has a calm and compassionate presence. He listens without judgement and offers gentle, insightful guidance that has made a meaningful difference in my life. I’m truly grateful for the support and care I’ve received.

My spouse ended our marriage after receiving therapy from Steve. Over a period of therapy sessions, my spouse suddenly became selfish, aggressive, disrespectful, degrading, deceitful, gaslighting, coercive, and psychologically and financially abusive. He justified abandoning his family because God wants him to be happy. Steve tells clients what they "want" to hear so they feel better about themselves, and that there is "nothing wrong" with them. This only empowers the toxic person to blame their spouse for their unhappiness and problems, and enables their entitlement and toxic behaviour to continue. Steve essentially helped my spouse comfortably navigate out of our marriage guilt free. Steve Abma is NOT a psychologist with a PhD. Steve Abma solicits clients through his church, advertising his 'feel good' services to the vulnerable. This would be considered unethical according to the College of Psychologists. Find a professional with a real psychology education, not someone from seminary school.
